The pet community has been hard hit by the woes of the past economy and the Yucaipa Animal Placement Society, or YAPS, has done its best to save as many pets as possible. This, according to Executive Director Nicole Laffey, is not easy.

Angel Tree for local pets at Kritter Kafe (Mason Valley News)

The Yerington Animal Protection Society (YAPS) and Kritter Kafe of Yerington are sponsoring an Angel Tree to help local pets. Some local residents with financial difficulty need help with pet food and basic pet supplies.

Professional pet sitters in the US and Canada have successfully completed the 2009 Wishbones for Pets pet charity goods/funds drive. As a result of the efforts of pet sitters and businesses in their local communities, many animal shelters and rescues receive food and necessary items to care for homeless pets.
